Biographical Sketch
July 14, 1868-October 15, 1951. Before his appointment as federal judge, he was assistant U.S. district attorney in Denver. He was the first president of the Community Chest organization of the United States. In recent years he practiced law at Miami, Fla., and resided at Cocoanut Grove. He received his LL.B. degree from DePauw in 1892 and the LL.D. in 1930. He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon and Phi Beta Kappa. Judge Ritter was at one time president of the State Bar Association of Colorado, chairman of the Denver Council of Social Agencies. He was a member of two well known Indiana and DePauw families, the Ritter's and the Lockwoods.
