Biographical Sketch
Richard F. Rosser, a native of Arcanum, Ohio, graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1951 with Phi Beta Kappa honors, and received his master’s and doctoral degrees from Syracuse University.
From 1952 to 1959, Rosser served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. In 1959 he became a member of the Department of Political Science at the U.S. Air Force Academy, heading the department from 1967 to 1973. In 1973 he retired from the Air Force with the rank of colonel.
From 1973 until January, 1977, Rosser served as dean of faculty and professor of political science at Albion College in Michigan, a position he held until being named DePauw’s 17th president.
Rosser is past president of the Independent Colleges and Universities of Indiana, and a member of the board of directors of the Great Lakes Colleges Association. He is also the author of several books, including "An Introduction to Soviet Foreign Policy, " used for a number of years at several universities in the United States.
Rosser was appointed President and Professor of Political Science of DePauw University on February 1, 1977.
