Biographical Sketch
Dr. Frank Fields Travis, retired Methodist minister and Greencastle resident for the last ten years, passed away on January 8th. Although he had never attended a theological seminary, Dr. Travis was appointed to the Northwest Iowa Conference of the Methodist Church in 1908 and served Churches in Iowa, his native state, and later Nebraska. He became district superintendent in Lincoln, Nebr., and then in 1945, at Cedar Rapids, Iowa, holding this position until 1951. Dr. Travis then returned to Greencastle Memorial Methodist Church for four years and working as a volunteer assistant in the DePauw University and Indiana Methodist Archives until 1960. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate and member of Phi Delta Theta at DePauw, he had maintained a life-long devotion to his Alma Mater and served as a co-agent for his class in the Alumni Fund until his death.
