Glenn I. Tucker papers

 Collection
Identifier: MSD-1914-003

Collection Statement

This collection includes printed materials, typed carbon copies, community projects, invitations, book reviews, awards, clippings and letters.

There are four cases of letters from various correspondents, mainly to Glenn Tucker. Mr. Tucker did not keep copies of all of his replies but many are scattered through, or are at the back of the folders.

The arrangement of letters to GT was roughly by year with clippings intermixed. Fro convenience the letters have been arranged by years and then alphabetically by correspondent's name; the "clips" have been mounted and placed at the front of the folders according to the year.

Since the limits of space and time have prevented a complete listing of names. A selection of names has been noted in each entry. The researcher should realize, however, that there are many more letters in each folder than the entries on the register indicate.

During the Civil War Centennial years 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, letters written by secretaries of Civil War Round Tables will be found in the regular arrangement of letters under the initials CWRT; letters for 1965, however, have been placed in a folder to themselves for that year.

Archives correspondence files

This second batch of papers, mainly letters, was brought to the Archives by Mr. Tucker when he came to attend DePauw Commencement, 1969. Arrangement: In the main, by date and alphabetically by name of the writer of the letter, within dates. Many letters written by GT are filed at the back of the folders, particularly if there seems to be no letter to which the Tucker letter is a reply. When several are clipped together they are left as they were found; they are filed under the correspondent's name which is most evident.

Letters from Bobbs-Merrill employees - except for the David Laurance Chambers letters are filed alphabetically under the heading. As a rule the letters from Mr. Chambers are filed in separate folders under his name.
