Inn at DePauw and Walden Inn records

On April 26, 1985, ground was broken for the 42,000-square-foot inn at the southeast corner of Seminary and Indiana streets in Greencastle, Indiana. Located on the north end of the DePauw University campus, it stands on the block where the former Fluttering Duck and interurban/bus station once stood. The original facility, opened in April 1986, was built as a three-story, 55-room facility on land leased from the university. Originally referred to as the Country Inn, it was named the Walden Inn at its opening.

A 19,000 square foot expansion of the Inn, completed in January 2003, created a new and much larger Fluttering Duck, a banquet room with space for 250 people (expandable to accommodate 100 more) and study space for students. In February 2005 the Walden Inn was acquired by the University from its principal owner, Don R. Daseke ’61 and management was turned over to Sodexho. In 2010 it was renamed the Inn at DePauw and went under new management.
