Biographical Sketch
Dr. Wildman became DePauw's fourteenth president in 1936, as the University observed its Centennial year, and he held the post until failing health forced his retirement in 1951. His administration was the longest yet served by a DePauw president and witnessed an extensive growth and development of the school. A 1913 graduate of DePauw, he was the third alumnus to hold the office. Dr. Wildman was born in Greensburg, Ind., March 8, 1889, the son of John and Jean Wildman. He graduated from high school there in 1907 and, after two years of teaching to earn money for his college education, enrolled at DePauw to major in philosophy.
