Biographical Sketch
Albert Dean Berenz was born in Normal, Ill. Nov. 27, 1927, the son of Henry Conrad Berenz Jr. and Carrie Winnifred Skaggs Berenz. He attended high school at Culver Military Academy and graduated in 1946. He studied economics at DePauw University and graduated with a degree in business from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1950. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity while at DePauw. Dean Berenz was third generation owner of Berenz and Son Asphalt and Construction Company. In later years, he founded the Motivational Development Centre. Dean was a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the Bloomington Lodge No. 43. Berenz passed away October 29, 2006, in Pinetop, Arizona, at the age of 78. At the time of his death he was survived by his four children, Dean Berenz, Jr. of San Diego, Calif., Margery B. Clark (John) of Pinetop, Henry C. Berenz, III, (Julie) of Sycamore, Ill., and Elizabeth L. Gohl, (Donald) of Lincoln, Ill.; and eight grandchildren, Jamie David (Josh), Preston, Kyndal and Spenser Clark, Melissa and Samantha Gohl, Kurt and Matt Cusac. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Marie Berenz and Bernadine B. Mulliken.
