African American Methodism collection
Scope and Contents
This collection includes the following items: a list of African American churches in Indiana from 1965-1984; the "Black Manifesto" transcript presented by James Forman, created by the United Methodist Commission on Religion and Race, adopted by the National Black Economic Development Conference in Detroit, Michigan on April 26, 1969; a February 20, 1983 article about Reverend Melvin Hunt; African American Methodism bibliographies created by Worth Marion Tippy and archives staff, circa 1951-1968; a paper by Methodist Bishop Willis J. King, titled "The Negro Membership of the (Former) Methodist Church in the (New United Methodist Church), dated March 1969; and two reports regarding African American colleges and United Methodist General Conference funding, dated 1972.
