Biographical Note
Lieutenant William T. Anderson was born in Owen County, Indiana, October 5, 1840, son of Vincent Anderson and the grandson of Rev. Daniel Anderson, a Pioneer Circuit Rider of Indiana. Rev. Anderson, a Methodist preacher, located in Martin County, Indiana in 1813 and later settled in Owen County on government land. For 46 years he was a traveling preacher, his circuit covering Owen, Clay and other counties in this section of the state.

Custodial History
The materials in the collection belonged to relatives (grandson in particular), of Daniel Anderson. Since Daniel Anderson was a Methodist circuit rider in the Northwest Conference in Greencastle, 1825-26, they have been placed in the Methodist collection.
