Historical Sketch

Marion Christland United Methodist Church is the result of several mergers over the years. Christy Street and Highland Avenue United Methodist Churches each had their beginnings circa 1893. Christy Street UMC began as an United Brethren church and later became Evangelical United Brethren church with the merger of the Evangelical Association and the United Brethren. The merger of the Methodist Church and the EUB once again changed this church, this time to a United Methodist Church. Highland Avenue had always been a Methodist church. In 1993 these two churches united to become the Christland United Methodist Church.
