Historical Sketch

The Columbian Boulder was given to the University by the Class of 1892 and placed on the northwest coner of East College where it remains today. It was originally owned by a farmer from whom it was purchased. He had been exhibiting it as a petrified turtle. It became the meeting place for generations of students and the scene of the famous Boulder Run from time to time.
