Historical Sketch

The Honor Scholar Program plays a pivotal role in DePauw's commitment to excellence in a liberal arts education. It is designed to give talented students a unique opportunity to participate in intellectually challenging discussion-based courses. This program is for students interested in developing habits of critical thinking, refining methods of persuasive self-expression, and are willing to take scholastic risks and learn from instructive mistakes.

Selected "honors" courses are taken in conjunction with any major of your choice. These enriched courses are taught in small classroom settings under the guidance of distinguished faculty. A senior thesis demonstrating academic abilities serves as the capstone of this college experience. Honor Scholar graduates have stated that completing an honors thesis was the most challenging and valuable experience at DePauw.
