Historical Sketch
Plans for the renovation of Roy O. West Library began in 1983 under the direction of Jana Bradley. The architectural firm chosen for the project was Weese Hickey Weese and the architect in charge was Dennis Langley. The project was extensive, costing almost $5 million. Surveys were conducted of DePauw faculty, staff and students. Consultants were brought in, including Chris McKee, director of Grinell College libraries. Grinell College had also used Weese Hickey Weese as the architect in their library renovation project.
The staff, at all levels, were consulted often. The result was a library everyone continues to be impressed with. Dedication of the newly renovated building was in October, 1988.
