Historical Note
In 1993, after a dinner with former Indiana Governor Robert Orr, Hirotsugu "Chuck" Iikubo (class of 1957) developed an idea to have a formal ceremony in Tokyo to thank the USA, followed by a caravan through major American cities. The project was called A50, "A" for Appreciation and America; 50 for representing the number of states in the United States as well as the years since the end of the war and hope for 50 more years of good relations. The ceremony took place on September 8, 2001 in Tokyo, Japan.
